Charmaghz runs Afghanistan’s a network of mobile libraries, bringing books and learning opportunities to children living in Kabul’s most deprived neighbourhoods.
Led by an all-woman team of trauma-informed librarians, Charmaghz’s mobile library and book lending programs teach basic literacy and numeracy. They also provide creative, art-based and other activities to encourage critical thinking and a love of reading to the hundreds of girls and boys who visit their libraries every day.
Charmaghz’s mobile libraries and book-lending program offers children not just learning, but a pathway to resilience, imagination, and the possibility of life beyond poverty, discrimination and violence.
